Behind the Scenes: Photographing a Corporate Gala at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington, DC
There are a few places capture the grandeur of Washington, DC quite like the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Recently, I had the chance to photograph a stunning corporate gala there that full of sparkle, energy, and connection. In this post, I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how I approach capturing events in one of DC’s most iconic venues.

The AIJA Congress brought together young law professionals from across the world for a week long congress ending an a gala for an evening of networking, recognition, and celebration. The energy was high from the moment guests arrived it a mix of excitement, pride, and genuine connection. My goal throughout the evening was simple: capture not just what the event looked like, but how it felt.
Working closely with the event planner and AV team, I made sure I understood the flow of the evening that started from the cocktail hour and dinner program to the awards presentation and after-party. Knowing those details ahead of time helps me anticipate the best moments and ensure full coverage without interrupting the experience.
Favorite Moments from the Evening
Some of my favorite images from the night came during the awards ceremony. The genuine pride on each recipient’s face, the spontaneous applause, and the heartfelt speeches reminded me why I love photographing corporate events.
Later, as the DJ started and the dance floor filled, I shifted gears to capture movement and fun, candid laughter, team selfies, and joyful celebrations that perfectly wrapped up the evening.
Photographing this corporate gala at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC was such a rewarding experience. It combined everything I love about event photography beautiful design, authentic emotion, and the chance to help brands showcase their story through imagery.
